The day has come! There were moments when I never thought we would ever close, but we have passed our loan inspection, and we will close today. Only one week behind my original construction schedule... So I'm crossing my fingers that we can stay on track from here.
So far Trey had been handling all of the loan and closing hassle (thank goodness). But when the lady at the bank called last Friday at 3:30 pm (our closing was supposed to be the next Monday at 10:00 am) to tell us she accidentally overlooked the part of the email saying we were approved subject to repairs, I immediately went into project manager mode. I was on my phone, calling contractors and sorting through quotes and emails.
Painting the exterior of the house, electrical repairs, structural engineers, tree work... "I will have it done by Monday - we are not getting behind schedule!" Sorry to the frightened children and parents in the toy store (we were shopping for a birthday party), I think I could have beenyelling quoted saying, "Does she not know that I can move mountains". Bravo or HGTV give me a call. Trey says dramatic is my middle name... I much prefer passionate.
Thankfully Trey is also calm under pressure... he convinced me being behind 1 week would not be the end of the world. But at least within the hour we had structural engineers, electricians, painters, and more all scheduled to begin work Monday. So here we are a week later, inspection passed and deed in hand! Cheers!
*Picture above is of a Lavender Whisky Sour - might have to try that this weekend!
Ingredients: ice cubes, 2 ounces whisky, 1 tbs lavender sour syrup, & fresh lavender sprig for garnish
